The President Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Members to White House
President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across the state have occurred in their honor.
White House Offer
The president said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president addressed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”
Public Reaction
Community members assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid public safety in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to help others.”
Memorial plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The event caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with his relatives.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
