It is a favorable story in a periodical that the president has consistently praised – with one exception. The front-page image, the president decreed, "may be the Worst of All Time".

Time's praise to the president's involvement in facilitating a truce for Gaza, featured on its November 10 cover, was presented alongside a photo of the president shot from a low angle and with the sun behind his head.

The result, the president asserts, is ""terrible".

"Time Magazine wrote a quite favorable story about me, but the picture may be the most awful ever", the president posted on his social media platform.

“My hair was ‘disappeared’, and then there was a shape over my head that looked like a suspended diadem, but quite miniature. Truly strange! I have always hated being shot from underneath, but this is a super bad image, and it should be denounced. What are they doing, and why?”

Trump has made obvious his ambition to feature on the cover of Time and did so multiple times in the past year. This fixation has reached the president's resorts – previously, the magazine asked him to remove fake issues exhibited in some of his properties.

This issue's photograph was captured by Graeme Sloane for Bloomberg at the White House on October 5.

Its angle was unflattering to his chin and neck area – a chance that the governor of California Gavin Newsom seized, with his press office sharing an altered image with the offending area pixelated.

The deal could be a signature achievement of the president's renewed tenure, and it could mark a key shift for that part of the world.

Meanwhile, a support for Trump's image has emerged from a surprising origin: the communications chief at the Russian foreign ministry came forward to denounce the "damaging" photo selection.

"It’s astonishing: a photo reveals far more about those who picked it than about the person in it. Only disturbed individuals, people driven by hatred and resentment –possibly even deviants – could have selected such an image", the official posted on Telegram.

Considering the favorable images of Biden that that magazine featured on the front, even with his age-related challenges, the situation is self-revealing for the publication", she said.

The answer to Trump’s questions – what were Time’s editors doing, and why? – may be something to do with artistically representing a sense of power stated by a picture editor, Guardian Australia’s picture editor.

"The actual photo itself is professionally taken," she notes. "They chose this shot because they wanted Trump to look commanding. Looking up at a person evokes a feeling of their importance and the president's visage actually looks contemplative and almost somewhat divine. It’s not often you see images of the president in such a peaceful state – the photo appears gentle."

The president's hair appears to “disappear” because the sunlight behind him has bleached that section of the image, generating a radiant circle, she says. Although the story’s headline marries well with the president's look in the image, "one cannot constantly gratify the subject matter."

"No one likes being shot from underneath, and while all of the conceptual elements of the image are very strong, the visual appeal are not flattering."

The publication contacted the magazine for a statement.
