Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
