Grief as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The motive of the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.
Details of the Attack
Police said that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a building near the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, it was reported.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the attack.
Important clues, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have have information to come forward.
"We know they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to find their whereabouts," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the loved ones are reeling to process his death.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," were her words.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing explicit content from the scene, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a popular local TV network.
In addition to his role as a presenter, Stock was involved in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including private security, supplying elite guarding services and protecting prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in building administration and was involved in building evictions.

A government minister remarked he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's murder.
"He was forthright fearlessly and impartially. He even spoke up against me and my policies as a minister. He was a pure example of who we should be," he stated.
A public representative said the "audacious attack of DJ Warras in broad daylight is a tragedy for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director noted that "DJ Warras was more than just a face of a reality series. He was a skilled narrator, a dedicated enthusiast of music and a generous spirit who brought happiness and vitality to every moment on screen. His commitment to his craft left an lasting impression."
In a release, the broadcaster he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, kindness and intelligent commentary, adding that his memory "will be remembered".
