Eulogies Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
âLife is Pain Without Youâ: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the deaths, public figures shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were widely condemned by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide could have acted when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
