Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
âJoshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,â the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.â
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans offered sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
